Dr. Jennifer Headrick became Program Director of our Internal Medicine Residency Program in January 2023. She initially joined Wellstar in 2017 as Core Faculty in our continuity clinic and Medical Director of Wellstar Cobb Community Clinic. She has played an instrumental role in the Program since June of 2018, when she was promoted to become the Associate Program Director for Ambulatory Services and the Medical Director of the Wellstar GME Internal Medicine Clinic in Marietta. She serves as Co-Chair for the GME Well-Being Committee. Dr. Headrick is a decorated educator, having received several awards since joining the faculty, including Ambulatory Teacher of the Year in 2018. She received recognition for the Grand Rounds Presentation of the Year for her presentation on Medical Cannabis in 2020. She was recognized by the Georgia Chapter of the American College of Physicians as the Early Career Physician of the Year in 2019. She is a superb clinician, mentor, teacher, and role model.
Originally from Cleveland, TN, Dr. Headrick is a graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis, TN. She completed her Internal Medicine residency training at the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine in Knoxville, TN, in 2009, where she also served as Chief Resident. She is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and is also a member of the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine, the Society for General Internal Medicine, and the AMA. Prior to joining Wellstar, Dr. Headrick practiced primary care general internal medicine in Waco, TX, and Knoxville, TN, for more than eight years.
