PGY-1
The first year experience includes exposure to the surgical intensive care unit, burn surgery, trauma and acute care surgery, vascular surgery and elective general surgery

PGY-2
As a PGY2, residents will complete rotations in acute care surgery, surgical ICU, minimally invasive surgery, colorectal and breast surgical oncology, transplant surgery, and thoracic surgery.
PGY-3
As a PGY3, residents will receive additional exposure to acute care surgery, breast and colorectal oncology, minimally invasive surgery, vascular surgery and trauma surgery. They will also rotate at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for a pediatric surgery experience.
PGY-4
During the PGY4 year, residents begin to act as chiefs during their night calls. They also begin to lead services, such as trauma, vascular and general surgery. They rotate on a surgical oncology service which boasts a high volume of hepato-pancreato-biliary cases and increase their exposure to thoracic surgery.
PGY-5
Residents complete their chief years by leading the acute care surgery service, increasing exposure to colorectal and surgical oncology as well as breast oncology. They also polish their robotic surgery skills with a busy general surgery service heavy in robotic cases.
